Optimum Hotel Brokerage's principal is Joseph McCann. Joe is a thirty-year hotel industry veteran who has held senior management positions with Hilton and Marriott at their largest and most successful properties. During his hotel brokerage career, he has closed more than $500 Million in hotel asset transactions. With this impressive track record of hotel closings, Optimum Hotel Brokerage firm has become one of the leading hotel brokerage companies in the United States. The customers and clients he has served during his hotel brokerage career comprise a veritable Who's Who in hotel investment, including Hilton Hotels Corporation, Meristar Hotels and Resorts, Accor, La Quinta (now part of Blackstone), Felcor Lodging Trust and Thor Equities. His customer base ranges from individual property owners to regional management companies to domestic hedge funds to international real estate ownership companies.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Management from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Hospitality Management degree from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.
His industry service experience includes adjunct professor and guest lecturer at major college hospitality management programs, including the Conrad N. Hilton College at the University of Houston and New York University's Tisch Graduate School of Hospitality Management.
A dedicated supporter of hospitality education, Optimum Hotel Brokerage has established numerous scholarships at Penn State’s School of Hospitality Management. The Optimum Hotel Brokerage Trustee Endowed Scholarship is granted to financially deserving students at Penn State's School of Hospitality Management. The McCann Family Charitable Fund also funds annual scholarships for academically deserving students in both Hotel Real Estate Finance and Hospitality Entrepreneurship at Penn State. The McCann Family Charitable Fund also partners with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to support an endowed scholarship for graduate students at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.
Mr. McCann is a member of the board of directors of the Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society, and received the "Alumnus of the Year" award from Penn State's School of Hospitality Management in 2006. He participates in Penn State's College of Human Development Mentoring Program, is active as a visiting lecturer at the school, and is instrumental in the development and instruction of the school’s Hospitality Entrepreneurship program.
Joe is a licensed Real Estate Broker, has earned the Certified Hotel Broker with Distinction designation with Hotel Brokers International, and has been a contributing editor for Lodging Real Estate and Hotel Journal magazines.
